Letter from Benny K. Misikir, Founder, The Back Home Company™

My name is Beyene (በየነ) aka Benny, and I’m the founder of The Back Home Company™.

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, but my roots go deep into Ethiopian soil. I come from a family that helped build the Ethiopian diaspora community in Dallas — a family that made sure I always knew who I was, where I came from, and why that mattered.

That pride has been with me my whole life.

But growing up in the diaspora, I also saw how easy it can be to feel disconnected — especially for the next generation. I started Back Home™ to change that.

This brand is more than clothing. It’s a cultural statement. It’s a way for us to stay connected to our heritage through something we carry with us every day: what we wear.

Whether it’s a cap, a tee, or a jersey, each piece is designed to reflect the pride, resilience, and beauty of where we come from.

Back Home™ is for anyone who wants to represent their motherland with intention. For those of us who walk in two worlds but refuse to forget our first one.
